I’m Martha McKittrick, RD, a Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist with over 20 years of experience helping thousands of clients improve their metabolic health. Through evidence-based, personalized strategies, I work with clients to improve blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, and support sustainable weight management, often helping them avoid or reduce the need for medications.

My deep clinical training, including as a co-author of The Type 2 Diabetic Cookbook and Action Plan, allows me to understand how blood sugar, lipids, hormones, and lifestyle habits interact. But just as importantly, I understand the emotions that come with hearing concerning news from your doctor.

I’ve sat with countless people who felt scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do after learning their numbers were trending in the wrong direction. That fear is completely valid, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

My approach is investigative and compassionate. I look beyond the lab results to uncover the patterns contributing to metabolic imbalance, including sleep, stress, muscle mass, nutrition timing, gut health, and inflammation. I’ll help you understand what’s happening in your body and create a plan that fits your real life.

I begin by doing a comprehensive review of your health background, including metabolic labs such as HbA1c, fasting glucose, and lipid panels, as well as your family and medical history, weight trends, and current lifestyle patterns. Based on what we uncover, I’ll design a tailored plan to improve blood sugar balance, support healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and promote long-term metabolic health. You’ll receive practical education on carbohydrate quality, portion balance, meal timing, and reading food labels with confidence. If you are already on medications, I will work with you to optimize your body’s response to them.

With my specialized expertise, I’ll also help you understand how different foods, medications, and lifestyle habits interact so you can make informed, confident choices every day.

STEP THREE

Implement with Ongoing Support

Follow-up sessions help to track progress, refine goals, and provide continued education and support. For clients who want a deeper understanding, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) may also be recommended.

Though I am NYC-based, virtual appointments allow you to have expert guidance that is always within reach.
